Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore was Tuesday named the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Year at the inaugural East Africa Com Awards.
During the ceremony held at Radisson Blu hotel in Nairobi, the CEO was feated in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of telecoms and ICT.
The company scooped two more awards with their innovations in customer service, health and agriculture being celebrated.
Digifarm was awarded the most innovative service while Jitambulishe scooped the Delivering Excellence in Customer Experience Award.
Safaricom Director of Corporate Affairs Steve Chege stated: “We are delighted by the recognition of the innovations that we have brought to the market.
“This is a testament to the transformation that technology is bringing to people’s lives.”
Earlier in May, Collymore announced that he would be back in Nairobi soon.
Speaking during the company’s Full Year investor briefing as the telecommunication giant announced a rise in net income from Ksh48.44 billion to Ksh55.29 billion, Collymore stated that he was heading to the last phase of treatment and is responding well.
“As you can see I am looking pretty robust. I am heading to the last phase of treatment and expect to be back to Nairobi as soon as the doctors feel that my immune system is sufficiently robust to withstand the infection risks that are usually associated with air travel.
“In the meantime, thank you all for the messages of good. I look forward to being back in action in Nairobi,” he divulged.
