Faith Kipyegon has made Kenya proud by the womens gold in the 1500 metres race

Kipyegon won the women’s 1500 metres in London on Monday, August 7, beating stiff competition that included Caster Semenya of South Africa.Faith Kipyegon victoryKipyegon in an interview with IAAF said she had to give her best to win the race.

“I knew it would be fast, it is such a quality field, The best was going to win here. It was always going to be quick and competitive,” she said.

US champion Jenny Simpson won silver with a time of 4:02.76 and South Africa’s Olympic 800m champion Caster Semenya got bronze in a time of 4:02.90.

Kipyegon is the Olympic champion in the race she won in Rio, Brazil and is also a silver medal holder in the race from the 2015 world championship event.Faith Kipyegon victoryWorld record holder Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia finished last in 4:06.72. She had been in fifth place at the 1200 meter mark, but looked strained and tired in the last 50 metres.
