Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday cried foul over an embarrassing photo of him was published by the Standard.
The newspaper published a series of photos of the Majority Senate leader falling during a football match when the World Cup Trophy was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.
The snapshot captioned “All legislation Without Play Makes Murkomen a Dull Senator” was slyly described as: “Senator Murkomen tried to beat the law of gravity, but it was all in vain as he tripped and fell during a football match between Copa Coca Cola select and MPs Select teams.”
The Standard noted that the legislator who played as a striker for his team in the entertaining match managed a few strikes on target.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Jubilee Senator took notice of the photos faulting the publication for not acknowledging that he had scored the lone goal for his team.
“Hii ni hujuma (this is sabotage) and they are not even saying I scored the goal,” he lamented via his Twitter account.
Kenyans online were quick to react to the picture with many making fun of the legislator.
“Why were you swimming and there wasn’t any water sir?” one user questioned.
While another noted: “Haha mweshimiwa you scored and also fell hard. What’s unnatural is falling down that design irrespective of the goal.”
“Look for the reporter, buy tea and the next match you’ll get good coverage,” another advised.
